    What are Half-spaces?

The half-spaces are the two vertical channels between the central corridor and the touchlines. They are the most valuable real estate on the pitch.

    Why it matters

A player receiving in the half-space can play forward, switch wide, or combine inside, three options that a wide or central player rarely has simultaneously.

    How coaches use it

Inverted full-backs, attacking 8s, and false 9s are all designed to occupy the half-spaces between the opposition's lines and disorganise their defensive references.

    Common mistake

Stacking the half-space with two players from the same line. They block each other's passing lanes and signpost the runs to the defenders.
